Madison Reger shut down Gonzales High School Spartans, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Cougars to a 12-0 victory on Tuesday
The Cougars got things started in the first inning. Ashley Welch singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
SLV put up four runs in the second inning. SLV’s bats in the inning were led by singles by Zoe Mendez and Lauren Lozier and by Hailey Lang.
A single by J Flores in the fourth inning was a positive for Gonzales High School Spartans.
Reger was the winning pitcher for SLV. She lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out eight.
Sofia Prieto took the loss for Gonzales High School Spartans. She went five innings, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and striking out two.
Mendez went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead SLV Cougars Varsity in hits.
Flores led Gonzales High School Spartans with one hit in one at bats.
