The Cougars fought back after falling down by four runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 5-4 defeat to Spanish Springs on Friday. SLV scored three runs on a home run in the sixth inning.
The Cougars tallied three runs in the sixth inning. Zoe Mendez had an RBI home run in the inning to lead the run scoring.
Hailey Mclean led the Spanish Springs to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She lasted six innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out ten.
Madison Reger took the loss for SLV. She allowed nine hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three and walking zero.
SLV socked one home run on the day. Mendez went yard in the sixth inning.
Reger, Alura Neill, and Mendez each collected one hit to lead the Cougars. The SLV defense was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.
Hunter Travers went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Spanish Springs in hits.
