We’ve been spending a great deal of time working on our Varsity field this fall. The majority of our project has been funded by money raised by our student athletes over the past 12 months. It really helps when we get an organization from the community to donate materials or expertise.
SLV Softball recently received a generous donation from Graniterock in the form of crushed granite for our infield. In addition to the material from their Aromas quarry Graniterock included delivery, a $1000 value, with their donation. We asked for a donation of materials and/or transportation and Graniterock donated the entire package. To save fuel, two Graniterock drivers drove their trucks home with them and delivered material at the end of the day. It has been difficult to raise funds for school athletics during this economic downturn, but Graniterock’s donation went above and beyond and came through for us in a tremendous way. This is the kind of involvement and investment that makes this community great!
