A single by S Riera on the sixth pitch of the at-bat put Saratoga Varsity Falcons on the board in the bottom of the first.
Brooke Reed grounded out, which helped San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars tie the game at one in the top of the second.
Saratoga Varsity Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the third. A passed ball scored one run, to give Saratoga Varsity Falcons the advantage, 2-1.
A Shah earned the win for Saratoga Varsity Falcons. The pitcher allowed four hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Krepelka took the loss for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking none. S Ramakrishnan earned the save.
Krepelka, Grace Purtscher, Ray Alvarez, and Elie Colby each collected one hit for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. Reed led San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars with one run batted in.
Riera went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Saratoga Varsity Falcons turned one double play in the game.
San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars welcome Soquel Varsity Knights on Wednesday for their next game.
