Angie Fulkerson’s Big Day Propels San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars Past Santa Teresa Varsity Saints

Angie Fulkerson drove in four runs on three hits to lead San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars past Santa Teresa Varsity Saints 13-10 on Saturday. Fulkerson singled in the fourth inning, scoring two runs, and hit a home run to center field in the sixth inning, scoring two.

Bats blistered as San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars collected 12 hits and Santa Teresa Varsity Saints tallied 13 in the high-scoring game.

San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.

San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Brooke Reed singled to the left side of the infield, Santa Teresa Varsity Saints committed an error, and Grace Purtscher singled to center field, each scoring one run.

San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars added five more runs in the top of the sixth inning on five hits. Fulkerson homered to center field, scoring two runs, Lily Silva induced Ray Alvarez to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Maddy Murphy singled, scoring one run, and Elie Colby singled, scoring one run.

Abi Krepelka earned the win for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking two. Lisamarie Chavarria took the loss for Santa Teresa Varsity Saints. The starter went three innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking three. Purtscher and Bailey Filice each appeared in relief for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars.

San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars piled up 12 hits in the game. Sophia Sarmiento and Colby each collected multiple hits for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Purtscher and Olive Colby led the team with two bases on balls each.

Santa Teresa Varsity Saints collected 13 hits in the game. Izzy Bardelmeier and Clare Zarzeczny each collected three hits for Santa Teresa Varsity Saints. Samantha Vidal and Zarzeczny each drove in two runs for Santa Teresa Varsity Saints. Deanna Hernandez and Amaya Williams each collected multiple hits for Santa Teresa Varsity Saints. Savanna Herbst stole two bases.
