San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars couldn’t keep up with Everett Alvarez and fell 14-6 on Thursday February 27th.
Everett Alvarez jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Michelle Wallace singled, scoring two runs, and Kam Cruz laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.
Everett Alvarez scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Lizbeth Ramirez hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, Wallace singled, scoring one run, and Cruz singled, scoring one run.
Everett Alvarez scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the third inning. Amaris Perez was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored one run, Dani Amendola singled, scoring two runs, and Alyssa Contreras drew a walk, scoring one run.
San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Elie Colby drew a walk, scoring one run, Grace Purtscher drew a walk, scoring one run, Angie Fulkerson doubled, scoring two runs, and Bailey Filice drew a walk, scoring one run.
Amendola earned the win for Everett Alvarez. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out 14 and walking none. Purtscher pitched four innings in relief for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and four runs (three earned) while, striking out three and walking four. Abi Krepelka took the loss for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up 10 runs on eight hits, striking out none and walking three.
Fulkerson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Purtscher, Fulkerson, and Filice each collected one hit for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars worked the count all day, tallying eight walks.
Everett Alvarez tallied 12 hits in the game. Wallace provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Everett Alvarez with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-5 on the day.
