
SLV took the lead late and defeated the King City Mustangs 12-8 on Thursday. The game was tied at seven with SLV batting in the top of the sixth when Anaya Sutcliffe singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Angie Fulkerson led SLV to victory by driving in four runs. Fulkerson went 2-for-5 at the plate. Fulkerson drove in runs on a fielder’s choice in the first, a home run in the fifth, and a single in the seventh.
In the first inning, SLV got their offense started. Fulkerson hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
King City knotted the game up at seven in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Mustangs scored one run when Malaya Carrillo singled.
SLV tallied four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Sutcliffe and Alyssa Struthers and a home run by Fulkerson.
Amelia Sizemore took the win for SLV. The righty lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and eight runs while striking out three and walking one.
Carrillo took the loss for King City Mustangs Varsity. The righthander went seven innings, allowing 12 runs on 15 hits and striking out one.
The Valley smacked two home runs on the day. Erika Kindred went for the long ball in the seventh inning. Fulkerson had a four bagger in the fifth inning.
SLV totaled 15 hits. Sutcliffe, Jori Fields-Rapley, Fulkerson, Kindred, and Bella Reynolds all collected multiple hits for the Cougars. Sutcliffe went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead SLV in hits.
King City racked up nine hits on the day. Carrillo, Tori Hamilton, and Jubes Mendez all had multiple hits for the Mustangs.
