
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where the Cougars came out on top against Scotts Valley, 9-7.
Scotts Valley got things started in the first inning. M Ruiz drove in one when she singled.
THe Cougars pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Hailey Lang grounded out, scoring one run, Zoe Mendez homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs, Melia Hall doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, and Kristen Miller singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Madison Reger was credited with the victory for SLV. She went seven innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one.
The Cougars launched one home run on the day. Mendez went deep in the third inning.
SLV totaled ten hits. Alura Neill, Jami Van Eyck, and Reger each collected multiple hits for SLV. Reger, Van Eyck, and Neill each managed two hits to lead SLV.
Scotts Valley collected eight hits on the day. Luck and Kylie Alvarez all had multiple hits for Scotts Valley.
