Cougars Grab Lead in the Sixth Inning for Victory Over Aptos

The Cougars ran off with the lead late in the game in an 8-1 victory over Aptos on Thursday.  The game was tied at one with SLV batting in the top of the sixth when Katrina Heinemann homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring four runs.

SLV secured the victory thanks to five runs in the sixth inning.  Heinemann and Alura Neill each had RBIs in the frame.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Aptos tied things up at one.  Aptos scored one run when Shea Garcia singled.

Madison Reger took the win for SLV. She lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out eight and walking one.

Ada Neu took the loss for Aptos. She surrendered eight runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out 11.

The Cougars launched one home run on the day. Heinemann went deep in the sixth inning.

SLV collected eight hits on the day.  Hailey Lang, Reger, and Melia Hall each collected multiple hits for SLV. Hall, Reger, and Lang each collected two hits to lead the Cougars. 

Garcia went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Aptos in hits.
