The Cougars grabbed an early lead on its way to an 11-2 victory over Soquel on Tuesday. SLV scored on a double by Zoe Mendez in the first inning, a double by Jami Van Eyck in the first inning, a error in the first inning, a groundout by Lauren Lozier in the first inning, a fielder’s choice by Hannah Gallagher in the first inning, a error in the first inning, and a home run by Ashley Welch in the second inning.
The Cougars secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the first inning. Mendez, Van Eyck, Jalie Edgemon, Lozier, Gallagher, and Hailey Lang each had RBIs in the big inning.
Welch was credited with the victory for SLV. She surrendered two runs on four hits over six innings, striking out two and walking zero. Madison Reger threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
The Cougars totaled 14 hits. Jami Van Eyck, Alura Neill, Lauren Lozier, Welch, and Jillian Francis all managed multiple hits for SLV Cougars (V). Van Eyck led SLV with three hits in four at-bats.
