San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars lost to Hilmar Varsity Yellowjackets 9-4 on Saturday the first game of the San Lorenzo Valley High School Wayne Richards Softball Invitational
Hilmar Varsity Yellowjackets got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Emma Gomes doubled, scoring two runs, Destiny Denys doubled, scoring one run, Sophie Stivers singled, scoring one run, and Camryn Mattos singled, scoring one run.
Aubrey McCarthy earned the win for Hilmar Varsity Yellowjackets. The pitcher allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Abi Krepelka took the loss for San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars. The pitcher went one inning, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out one and walking none.
Leadoff hitter Elie Colby led San Lorenzo Valley Varsity Cougars with two hits in four at bats.
Hilmar Varsity Yellowjackets collected 13 hits in the game. Stivers went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Hilmar Varsity Yellowjackets in hits. Mattos, Gomes, and Maribel Moreno each drove in two runs for Hilmar Varsity Yellowjackets. Brooke Branco and Karley Segura each collected multiple hits for Hilmar Varsity Yellowjackets.
