
SLV grabbed an early lead on its way to a 13-2 victory over Monte Vista Christian on Wednesday. The Cougars scored on a single by Jersey Collins in the second inning.
SLV took the lead for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Collins singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run and Alyssa Struthers lined out, driving in a run.
SLV Varsity put up three runs in the sixth inning. The Cougars put the pressure on, lead by singles by Fallyn Lachmund and Olive Colby and an error on a ball put in play by Anaya Sutcliffe.
Alison Reger was in the pitcher’s circle for SLV. Reger pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out nine.
M Martin toed the rubber for Monte Vista Christian. The bulldog surrendered five runs on six hits over three and a third innings, striking out four and walking one. A Varas threw three and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.
The Valley racked up 17 hits. Olivia Renouf, Erika Kindred, Sutcliffe, Colby, Struthers, Lachmund, and Bella Reynolds all managed multiple hits for SLV. Renouf went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Cougars in hits.
J Pina led Monte Vista Christian with two hits in three at bats.
