SLV snagged a late lead and defeated Soledad Varsity Aztecs 18-2 on Saturday. The game was tied at two with SLV Varsity batting in the top of the third when Olivia Renouf singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Renouf led SLV Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. Renouf went 3-for-3 at the plate. Renouf drove in runs on a single in the third and a home run in the third.
Soledad Varsity Aztecs got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for Soledad Varsity Aztecs.
SLV evened things up at two in the top of the second inning. Anaya Sutcliffe grounded out, scoring two runs.
Amelia Sizemore got the win for SLV. The righthander surrendered two runs on four hits over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Abigale Krepelka threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Miranda Gonzalez took the loss for Soledad Varsity Aztecs. The bulldog surrendered three runs on four hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.
The Cougars socked one home run on the day. Renouf put one out in the third inning.
SLV Varsity tallied 14 hits. Renouf, Jori Fields-Rapley, and Sutcliffe all collected multiple hits for SLV Varsity. Renouf led SLV Varsity with three hits in three at bats.
