It came down to the wire on Thursday, with SLV taking victory on a dramatic walk-off home run in the late innings that sealed their victory over Soquel. The game was tied at two with the young Cougars batting in the bottom of the eighth when Angie Fulkerson homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs. It was the Freshman’s first Varsity home run.
In the top of the sixth inning, Soquel tied things up at two. The Knights scored one run when Muccilli doubled.
Amelia Sizemore led SLV to victory in the pitcher’s circle. Sizemore lasted eight innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out seven.
Seese took the loss for Soquel. The hurler surrendered four runs on five hits over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out nine.
SLV launched one home run on the day. Fulkerson put one out in the eighth inning.
The Cougars saw the ball well today, racking up five hits in the game. Fulkerson and Cheyenne Owen each managed multiple hits for SLV. Owen and Fulkerson each collected two hits to lead SLV.
