The Cougars lost despite out-hitting Aptos Mariners Varsity nine to seven.
Aptos opened up scoring in the second inning when Milenna Carbajal hit a solo homer.
Aptos scored five runs in the fifth inning. The Mariners batters contributing to the big inning included Sofia Cunha and Carbajal, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Neu earned the victory on the rubber for Aptos. Neu lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and eight runs while striking out nine.
Amelia Sizemore took the loss for SLV . The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs over four innings.
SLV Varsity launched one home run on the day. Olivia Renouf put one out in the sixth inning.
SLV saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Alyssa Struthers and Bella Reynolds all managed multiple hits for SLV. Reynolds and Struthers each collected three hits to lead the young Cougar squad.
Aptos seven hits. Carbajal, Neu, and B. Fulton each had multiple hits for Aptos. Carbajal led Aptos Mariners Varsity with three hits in three at bats.
