Zoe Mendez showed timely hitting on Tuesday, driving in four on two hits to lead the Cougars past Soledad 9-3 on Tuesday. Mendez drove in runs on a single in the second, a groundout in the fourth, and a home run in the sixth.
The Cougars got things started in the first inning. An error scored one run for SLV.
SLV put up three runs in the fourth inning. Mendez had an RBI groundout in the inning to lead the run scoring.
Madison Reger pitched SLV to victory. She allowed two hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five. Jalie Edgemon threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Faith Gonzales took the loss for Soledad. She lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out three.
The Cougars launched one home run on the day. Mendez had a four bagger in the sixth inning.
The Cougars scattered 12 hits in the game. Mendez, Hailey Lang, Alura Neill, Hannah Gallagher, and Kristen Miller all had multiple hits for SLV. Miller, Gallagher, Neill, Lang, and Mendez each managed two hits to lead the Cougars.
Daniela Guedea led Soledad with two hits in three at bats.
