Come join us on Sunday, November 13th at 1PM for an informational seminar on the college recruiting process.

Coaches at all levels of college softball are looking for prospects. But competition for scholarships and starting positions on college teams gets tougher every year. Out of the thousands of talented players graduating high school each summer, only about one in fifteen will “make the cut”.

Catharine Aradi is a nationally recognized recruiting consultant and the author of Preparing to Play Softball at the Collegiate Level. She is an active member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and works with athletes and colleges all over the U.S. (Web: fastpitchrecruiting.com)

At her clinics, Ms. Aradi discusses what it takes to succeed in college and how to find the school and the team that are right for you or your player(s) as well where to find scholarships and financial aid.

Parents, coaches and athletes will have the opportunity to learn:

The “facts of life” about college softball, scholarships and financial aid

Why competition for available dollars is so tough

How to take control of your own college search

What coaches look for in their athletes

Why academics are such an important part of the recruiting game

How to make sure your athlete has the competitive edge

This clinic will include an overview of the college search process and a question and answer period. The clinic is open to parents, players, coaches, and anyone interested in playing after high school.

The cost is $15 per person/$30 per family at the door. Please make checks payable to “SLVHS Softball”.

Please pre-register at http://slvsoftball.com/college-bound/cathi-aradi-seminar/ so that we can better setup the facility and notify you if there are any any changes.

If you’ve driven by the field lately you may have noticed a little construction going on. We’re in the process of rebuilding all of the dugouts on the Varsity and JV fields. The first phase of the project will focus on the two dugouts that split both fields. Our plan calls for widening them slightly, adding a second gate and extending the foundation to make them more functional during games. The new plan will allow our high school athletes, Little League sluggers and Pony baseball players a little more elbow room to store their game day equipment. These types of projects require an outstanding cast of parent and community volunteers.

Fred & Sue Lotz (Lotz Construction) – I wish we had a nickel for every hour these two put into our sports programs. Thank you. Lotz Construction handles all types of residential construction.

Terry Miller (Miller Concrete) – We asked Terry for some guidance on the foundation and we got the whole thing completed. His crew handled the pour as well. Terry Miller Concrete handles all phases of concrete construction.

Morgan Scarborough (Scarborough Lumber) – Generous local company willing to help out our local schools.

Scott French (Las Animas Concrete) – Generous local company. A Giants fan too!

Kurt Brumbaugh
Sean Castagna (Little League Pres.)
David (Sparky) Johnson (David Johnson Painting)
Eric McDermott
Doyal Hershberger

Our players, parents and fans are the greatest. Yesterday’s fundraiser made more then we had hoped. Thank you to every single person who donated time, effort and goods.

We had top notch donations for the raffle – Thank you to everyone who donated, and in particular Mike Holmes for your substantial contributions to the raffle! There was considerable “buzz” in the community surrounding those Giants tickets!

The baked goods were overwhelmingly delicious – a huge success up at the middle school field. You all didn’t just throw things together either – there were some gourmet offerings! Giant brownie cupcakes with ganache for frosting??? WOW!

The rummage sale was quite an experience to share with you all. I am humbled by the effort that went into bringing your items, setting up, advertising, merchandising and staffing the sale. And we are so blessed – we have some seriously good “junk!” Especially humbling was the effort by our extended softball family. Without being asked or having a child in the program you brought baked goods and donated items to support the cause and serves as a reminder that our efforts and actions extend beyond softball. That’s community.

Again, Thank You!
